Downtown Arlington Heights
A short drive from the hotels in Schaumburg, we suggest checking out downtown Arlington Heights. There are many great restaurants, boutique stores, cafes, ice cream shops, exercise classes, and bars. A few of our favorites are: Salsa 17 (Mexican food), CoCo & Blu (Cafe), Kilwins (Ice cream), Corepower Yoga, and Peggy Kinnane’s Irish Pub (Bar).
Busse Woods Forest Preserve
If you’re looking to get outside and get some fresh air, we suggest checking out Busse Woods (Ned Brown) Forest Preserve. It has miles of paved paths for walking, running, or biking. The preserve also has lakes and swamps scattered throughout that provide some awesome scenery and wildlife!
Woodfield Mall
If you’re looking to get some shopping done or do something indoors, the Woodfield Mall is located just across the highway from the hotels. It has many of our favorite stores like Anthropologie, Levi’s, and Lululemon.
Topgolf Schaumburg
Topgolf is located very close to the hotels and is a great activity for groups. If you plan on going, I would suggest reserving a time slot on their website here, or you can join their waitlist via the app and it will let you know when your bay is ready, though wait times can sometimes be hours.
Downtown Chicago
If you have a full day free and are looking to visit downtown, we would suggest taking the train there from the suburbs, rather than driving downtown. The traffic is typically pretty bad and with recent construction, it has been worse. The train will be faster than driving or taking an Uber there. The closest train stop to the hotels is ‘Arlington Park’, about a 15 minute drive away, where you are able to then park at the train stop. If you are looking to be dropped off in the heart of downtown, your destination will be ‘Chicago OTC’. Visit Metra’s website here for the train schedule, purchasing tickets, and more information.
